Over the last few years, Music Days has established itself as the pre-eminent chamber music festival in Palestine. In 2009, in a bold new collaboration, the Choir of London will be making its fourth visit to the region in the last five years to perform gala concerts and to present a new opera production as a major contribution to the Music Days programme.
A new, fully-staged professional touring production of one of the best-loved of all operas, La Boheme by Puccini. A new production by Poppy Burton-Morgan, featuring some of the finest rising young opera stars in Europe, including Charmian Bedford (Mimi), Andrew Staples (Rodolfo), Amy Carson (Musetta), Alex Ashworth (Marcello), Mario Solimene (Schaunard) and George Humphreys (Colline). Acclaimed Palestinian pianist Saleem Abboud Ashkar stars in special gala concerts featuring the 1st Piano Concerto by Mendelssohn, as well as collaborative performances of the great German Requiem by Johannes Brahms, with a combined Palestinian and European choir and orchestra conducted by James Burton.
